Jayne May (HR Business Partner) - Schroders Australia

“We recently partnered with Cleveland for the second time at Schroders as part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations. Cleveland and Tanieka created an amazing artwork for our employees to connect with on our journey towards reconciliation.  We also use this externally to demonstrate our commitment and support Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders to our clients, the broader Australian community as well as our global networks which is shared proudly.

Separately Cleveland also facilitated a NAIDOC week lunch and learn employee session which was interactive, engaging and informative.  We had some voice on experience exploring and engaging with Yarning circles for employees to connect with cultural practices that build respectful collaboration and personal development.

In the lead up to this event, Cleveland was very flexible, understanding and would take the time to share his knowledge and perspectives which were hugely insightful, and their resources are amazing for kids and adults alike.  I highly recommend partnering Yaali Collective across a broad range of Aboriginal corporate events and initiatives and look forward to partnering with Yaali again in the future.”

Brody Rigg (Team Leader) - 54 Reasons

“I contacted Cleve to see if he could provide my team with Aboriginal cultural immersion that incorporated understanding and respect. These ideas of understanding and respect were important as some of our staff had never had the opportunity to engage in cultural immersion before and because of that had a very limited understanding and with little understanding leads to little respect. Cleve organised a consultation prior to booking us in to discuss this and we were able to workshop a 6 hour online session based on cultural respect and understanding. This was a great experience as I got to lead and design the session. Cleve kept me in the loop all the way up until the workshop was held, he had done his homework on our organisation and was able to match/ challenge some of our ideologies in a respectful way for staff to begin using that curious lens. Cleve was very engaging, relatable and shared openly with the group which made it real. My team loved the training and so did I, I have spoken to Cleve about building on from this session and we are in talks on how to continue the staff’s cultural immersion”.

Parent - Barramurra Culture Club

“During the last school term, two of my sons (aged 7 and 9) had the pleasure of participating in the Yaali Collective’s Culture Club Program at Barramurra, so I have first-hand experience of the amazing work facilitated by Tanieka and Cleveland. This was the first (that my family has experienced) locally run program within the Public School system that recognised the need for Aboriginal children to learn about, and have direct exposure to, First Nations culture inclusive of language and ceremony.

The program has contributed to the preservation of culture through intergeneration teaching, by fostering an appreciation of the energy and resilience of our people, the importance and benefits of connection to Country, acknowledging the strength and wisdom that has been passed on throughout generations, as well as the importance and significant meanings behind our stories and totems”.
